US News & World Report지는 매년 봄 가을 미국 대학 순위를 발표하고 있습니다. 봄에는 각 분야 대학원 순위가 발표되고, 가을에는 미국 학부 순위가 발표되고 있습니다. 이는 미국 교육 전문가를 비롯한 세계 각국 교육전문가들이 가장 권위있는 미국 교육기관 평가 지표로 사용하고 있으며, 또한 미국 교육에 관심을 갖은 대부분 학생들도 해마다 이 순위 발표를 고대하고 있습니다.


 


금년 발표된 미국 로스쿨 랭킹을 검토하면서 다음과 같은 몇 가지 특징을 발견할 수 있었습니다. 첫째, 7 상위 로스쿨 순위가 전년도와 변경이 없었습니다. 둘째, 대부분 로스쿨 학비가 5~8% 인상 반영되었음에도 UC계열의 대학들 – UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Davis, 그리고 UC Hastings -은 오히려 약간의 학비 인하를 적용시켰습니다. 셋째, 지난 해 대비 각 로스쿨 입학생 LSAT성적이 1~2점 정도 상향 되었습니다. 넷째, 각 로스쿨 입학 허가율이 지난 해 대비 다소 낮아진 점도 확인할 수 있었습니다. 그리고, 마지막 다섯째로, 순위 변동이 심한 로스쿨 로는 Pepperdine University (+60), University of North Carolina(+11), University of Florida(+10), University of Utah (+7), UC Davis(+6), University of Washington (-12) 등이었습니다
